method of extraction


The most popular technique for obtaining chitosan is alkaline deacetylation of chitin.). The degree of deacetylation (%DA) can be determined by NMR spectroscopy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Spectroscopy): this involves boiling chitin in concentrated alkali (50% w/v) for several hours. This will yield chitosan with a degree of acetylation between 20-30%: the most popular commercial available form of chitosan. In such a chitosan, the acetyl groups are uniformly distributed along the polymer chain0

trimethylchitosan(where the amino group has been trimethylated) have been used in non-viral gene delivery. Trimethylchitosan, or quaternisedchitosan, has been shown to transfect (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Transfection) breast cancer cells; with increased degree of trimethylation increasing the cytotoxicity and at approximately 50% trimethylation the derivative is the most efficient at gene delivery.

Usage

1.Chitosan is used primarily as a plant growth enhancer, and as a substance that boosts the ability of plants to defend against fungal infections.

2.Chitosan can also be used in water processing engineering as a part of a filtration process(mechanism:chitosan causes the fine sediment particles to bind together and is subsequently removed with the sediment during sand filtration. Chitosan also removes phosphorus, heavy minerals, and oils from the water).

Sand filtration apparently can remove up to 50% of the turbidity (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Turbidity) alone while the chitosan with sand filtration removes up to 99% turbidity.

pharmacological action&clinical uses (indications)

1.Chitosan's properties allow it to rapidly clot blood, and has recently gained approval in the USA for use in bandages and other hemostatic agents.

2.Chitosan is hypoallergenic, and has natural anti-bacterial properties

3.'Fat attractor': chitosan causes weight loss by binding fats in the stomach and preventing them from being digested and absorbed and expelling it from the body so that users can, it is claimed, lose weight without eating less.

unmodified chitosan would remove roughly 30 calories per day from a person's diet. Modified chitosan is claimed to absorb anywhere up to three to six times its weight in fat and oils

1.Those who have severe allergic reactions to me t a l fish should not use this product.

أشكرك على الأسئلة ديه اللى فعلا بتثبت المعلومات
وبالنسبة للإجابة:
chitosan عبارة عن fibre له القدرة على أن يمتص 10 مرات حجمه الدهون اللى بتدخل القناة الهضمية, لذلك ينصح بشرب كمية كبيرة من الماء معه حتى يزيد فى الحجم فيساعد ف عملية الهضم وهو يؤخذ قبل الأكل ب 10 دقائق لأنه بيصبح على هيئة gel بعد شرب هذه الكمية من الماء فيعمل بطانة للقناة الهضمية تعمل على امتصاص كمية كبيرة من الدهون
